Undervolt your Radeon — cooler and quieter, usually for free

Also searched as: undervolt · under volt · adrenalin · lower temps · quieter gpu · gpu voltage · radeon tuning · mv

The goal

Lower temps and fan noise — often with the same or slightly better performance, because a cooler card holds its boost longer. An undervolt that goes too far just gets unstable and resets; you nudge it back and you're fine. It's the safest knob on the card.

Steps

  1. Right-click the desktop → AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition.
  2. Performance → Tuning → Custom; turn on GPU Tuning, set voltage to Manual.
  3. Lower max voltage (mV) by a small step — 25 to 50 mV to start. Apply.
  4. Play a demanding game or loop a benchmark for 20 to 30 minutes.
  5. Stable? Drop another 25 to 50 mV and retest. Crash, artifacts, or a black screen? Step back up one increment — that's your limit.

To undo

Adrenalin → Performance → Tuning → Reset.
