VRAM (video memory)

Also searched as: vram · video memory · video ram · gpu memory

What it means

The dedicated memory on your graphics card that holds textures, shadows, and frame buffers. It's separate from your system RAM.

More detail

Run out of it and the game spills over into slower system memory, which shows up as nasty stutter and texture pop-in rather than a clean FPS drop. Higher resolutions and texture settings eat more of it. It's why a card can have plenty of raw speed and still struggle at 4K if it's short on VRAM.
